Spyware/antivirus programs pick up this app because it attacks other programs in methods that viruses usually use... but only when the user tells it to. just like everyone else here says, this piece of software is OK, but if YOU arent using it, you might want to get rid of it.

Please dont believe these hackers, a hacker told me to download it, and suddenly i started getting tons of malware and password stealing keyloggers!!! IF you downloaded it but havent run it, remove WINSPY.DLL -- THIS IS CRITICAL AS IT WILL SCREW UP YOUR COMPUTER. note if you do download it and run it, youll start seeing cpu decrease, and services.exe trojan -- Do not remove as windows uses this, and UsrPrmpt.exe -- these are all spyware caused by this. you may be able to disassemble this spyware, by going CTRL-ALT-DELETE right click services.exe and debug, look for any malicous code and then get a remover. Hackers-- This is important , as it is belived WPEPRO came from the cia, to keylog the activity of hackers, and therefore snoop on them!!!! So do not hack untill this is removed, get the safer alternitive to WPEPRO.EXE

I've downloaded WPE Pro and the program was executed. By now i know that WPE Pro is used for hacking Multiplayer games and I've seen billions of people "say" they used it. I don't know if I could believe anyone though :P. The guy above me scared me about getting it and turning my virus settings off.

most anti viruses detect WPE as a trojan because of the WINSPY.dll
its not a trojan, all packet sniffers work like trojans...

u can use WPE to hack games like WarRock, although its detected by PunkBuster for a while now...
just find a undetected packet sniffer or make (or leech) a bypass for WPE or any packet sniffer u use...

This is in no sort of way spyware. It's just a hacking tool for hackers, it's for people who use ArtMoney for RuneScape. ArtMoney *may* change the value of gold, but the server doesn't know that. WPE Pro is a packet sniffer, once you edit the value with ArtMoney, if the sniffer is running, it should pick up the packet sent. It's just a matter of changing the coding and sending it back to the RS client to get rid of that "so called" fake money.

ill agree with everyone that says all it is is a hacking tool. It is only detected as a virus because it operates like one but you have complete control. AKA I would not be afraid of it.

you'd know if it was spyware or not! THIS FILE IS NOT HARMFUL if it is not pure by means of a trojan horse injection in the file or something... but people can do that to any software and believe me, only if you knew alot about trojans to the point where you know their ins and outs, you would notice. but nobody else! Just make sure you get your software from the people you trust, eg the nerdy friends who know how to program ;)
Wondering why there's no 'debug' menu there, or it doesn't open properly? becuase these people don't realise that most of you don't have any programming compilers/interpreters/IDE's installed so you don't get that menu. There's no reason to blacklist this file more than any other file... MS Word, Photoshop, you name it, it could happen to them all. Easier than you think. Just as easy as WPE Pro. There _might_ be a trojan linked to this file, but it's more likely to be legitimate to every purpose you use it for (if you don't use it it's probably trojanized).
VIRUS-yes?!? Nah It's not a virus. Believe me. I'll run it any day, on school/fbi/home computer whatever and they WON'T CHARGE ME I guarantee it. You're being played by a fool unless you're downloading it from all the wrong sites. A virus is something that replicates itself in some way. WPE Pro has never replicated for me! Virus scanners aren't reliable, especially this spywaredb one.

It's a good program to hack multiplayer games. Who gets an error opening it it's because of anti-virus. Add wpe pro.exe to the exclusion programs of your AV. Nod32 detect it as a malicious software

This program is mainly created to log the activity of hackers as Ettercap already said above. It contains malicious code that will basically screw up your operating system, by taking away the premissions to do certain things in your environment. It also has connection with an master server (You can see it while doing an netstat test in your DOS) that collects information from you pc such as saved passwords, your internet cookies, also has ability to monitor your internet activity. In one word dont touch this. This program IS virus. The dynamic link libary file (spy.dll) injects to your windows system and starts doing it's work.
The main symptoms -
#You get ads from your internet explorer (such as bad content, porn, poker and so on.)
#You have lost your premissions over your pc. (Cant create new accounts, the Task Manager is disabled, cant access your Control Panel, the C:/E:/D:/A:/F:/G: drives are locked.)
#Your CPU usage raises sightly (PC getting very slow and not responding anymore)
#Sends your personal info to the masterserver.
- People, dont be stupid to listen these guys in this forum, never download this software. I have removed this software from hundreds of PC's before. (Thats my job.)

There is nothing malicous about this program. I have used it on many computers and never had anything go wrong. I even have the soure for both the exe and the dll, there is nothing malicous in there except the ability to change packets. Also if you look at what people are saying, you all have differnet symptoms. You have different processes opening. This makes me think you are getting versions that have been bound to a virus by a hacker.

Alrighty so yeah. Ive seen professionals use this program in penetration testing...as in companys...you know those people who know what there doing? Certain things can do bad things in the wrong hands. There for are detected as malicious. Cain and able for example will be detected that way. If you put it on someone elses computer u can use it to crack hashes stored on there computer amongst other things. So ya if you didnt put there urself your probably in trouble. BUT like wpe pro its only malicious if its used that way. For those who are being spazes and saying they got a virus...here a hint dont download from a damn warez site or some place like that ANY PROGRAM can be made to have a virus on it. Just because your dumb enough to download from some sketchy place doesnt mean every version is trojaned =) have a nice day.

It is a tool used by hackers. I can see how someone with ill intent could use it for such purposes. And yes, be careful about where you download stuff from. Crackers love to offer hacked programs with trojans/malware added in. Of course my anti-virus app detects it as a virus every time I run it/open its folder. I'm considering removing my anti-virus; I know what viruses are, after all, and how to remove them.
Oh, and yeah, if you don't know what a packet editor is, DON'T DOWNLOAD IT!
Also, it sounds like Tarnulde has a virus-infested pc.

i got WPE pro, problem is, i had to stop my anti-virus program from working because it kept saying it was a trojan and it deleted it. So i got Threatfire as well and it doesnt care about WPE.its safe if you know what ure doin and who you download it from. I got mine from RapidShare

GUYS! This is not a freakin virus. And I guess you could hack runescape abit with this, as you can make a "autobot" by resending information (as mining and dropping the ores then repeating), but it's really obvious, since you won't be speaking but mining all day. And, this is often picked up as viruses, even keyloggers, cause my antivirus also scanned this as a virus. But don't worry, its not, you don't have to worry about being infected... =P

I thought it wasn't a virus , but it turns out there was high level DOS embedded in it, If you try to remove it will just say "Access Denied".Not any of the 3 anti-virus programs i have can remove it, the firewall didn't protect me from it or warn me of it, my best anti-virus program could only quarantine a file linked to it, and i have a 4k computer with about 250-300$ worth of protection. If that's something you wanna download be my guest, but now about a month after i downloaded it, my start has gone crazy, and my computer has gone slow, i have a 1 terabyte hard drive,and 8 gigs of ddr2 ram, and there's nothing i can do about it.

I downloaded WPE Pro and soon found out that my computer had spyware. If you ever download somthing such as WPE Pro and your computer pops up saying its not safe, its not a good idea to download. I had to get a bunch of stuff on my computer to get the spyware off because it would not let me delete any of the files. Not a good idea to download it.

It's not spyware or a keylogger or any other virus! It's a perfectly safe packet editor, I've been using it for almost a year, no problems at all, if you have virus problems stop downloading evey crap thing you see and use professional tools like this... so suck it.

Anyway, people put too much faith in their anti-virus / firewalls. Plenty of viruses slip by those. A simple .bat forkbomb won't be detected by most of these firewalls. WPE pro is super safe compared to a .bat forkbomb, which isn't even detected by these shit firewalls!

It is just one of those programs that is detected as malicious because it is a HACK TOOL, but it is NOT a virus, or even inherently malware. It CAN be used maliciously by YOU, if you wish.
