Fresh Devices isn't dangerous. The only thing that ever goes on with me and Fresh Devices is that I get an email regarding updates.
2007-08-24 01:17:28, Steven:
Fresh Devices is terrible, i tested this download manager if it is capable to grab full websites, but it was not. Then i wanted to deinstall it and i was not able to remove it completely. So i let it where it was. Now if i want to download a file, it tries to us freshdownload and it fails. Actually i am not able to get any files from the internet via http. After removing all registry keys and files with any relation to freshdownloads the problem was the same. I hope spyware doctor (the product this spywaredb offers) will clear the situation for me. Very unprofessional from freshdevices to distribute a product with such userunfriendly behaviors.

Agree with Steve 100%. Really annoying program.

Agreed with Steven. It does NOT remove cleanly. It's completely broken my ability to download with Firefox.

If you want to remove the fdcatch.dll file which is very stupid you want to try add/remove programs i'v had take of fdcacth.dll file with it...

Agreed. This program is one of the worst I've ever used simply because not only was it useless, but it won't go away, and now if I want to download stuff I have to right click and do "save link as..." It is total negligence on their part, and maybe even borderline criminal. After all, MS was sued for not allowing IE to be uninstalled, and this is dangerously close to the same thing. Stay away from this program.

In Firefox, open the Add-ons windows and click on Plugins. Scroll down until you find FreshDownload Plugin, and click Disable. Presto!

No problems with the down-loader for me. It did its job very well (once I got my head around what to do). I haven't tried removing it yet, but will not simply rip it out by the roots.
As for this being spyware, it has not been picked up from my security. However I am suspicious since it is a well made program that is simply free, so the old rule probably applies here - "there's nothing free".

For all of you that are having that download problem go to your internet, go to tools, click on add-ons, and disable the fresh download plugin
I hope this helped all of you!

Piece of shit program that totally ruins your ability to download in Firefox. The Firefox download manager wont even come up and the down them all add on will stop with 1 second left on the clock, even though it says the download is complete, and you cant open the download. Then it removes download them all from the drop down menu where you cant even use it at all, though it has already been rendered useless by the 1 second thing.
Then when you uninstall it and try to download something you get directed to a page that says fresh download cant take over the download and the Firefox download manager doesn't work either so you can't do anything.
I had to wipe my hard drive and the non destructive recovery did not make it any better so I did a destructive recovery and I still am having problems. I don't think you can get rid of the shit. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROGRAM OR REGRET IT LATER. I PROMISE!

Type "about:plugins" in your address bar and hit [Enter].
A page should appear, showing every installed plugin, including the FreshDownload one (you can just search it with CTRL+F). The nasty DLL file is called "npfd.dll" in my case. Try to search this from your registry and system drive then delete it. Problem solved!

I used to use FreshDownload Manager many years ago on my XP Home PC and it was brilliant.
Recently I installed it on my Vista PC and found it a load of CRAP, so decided to uninstall it. It reported as being uninstalled but kept hijacking my Opera Browser downloads, despite not being on my PC any longer?!
After MANY, MANY hours of trying to solve the problem of how an uninstalled FreshDownload Manager could continue to hijack my PC, I discovered I had overlooked something. So I checked my plug-ins in Opera and found that there was a npdf.dll file in my Mozilla plug-ins folder, which I deleted after following the above removal instructions and I then rebooted my PC and tried to download a file again in Opera. Success! Opera regained the download capture procedure once again.
Conclusion: Make sure you have unregistered and deleted ALL .dll files relating to Fresh Devices and you should regain control of your PC downloads again. Done properly, there should be no need for anyone to format their drives, thou I can understand the frustration with this product that would allow you to feel you have no other option...
I must add how disappointed I am that Fresh Devices would screw up what was a great program to the point that uninstalling its products would lead many users to have to format their system hard drives to get rid of its troublesome software.

Thanks for the help.I disabled Fresh plugin and firefox is back to normal.

This Fresh download is a pain in the ass. I actually had to export my bookmarks from firefox, uninstall it, and reinstall firefox to get rid of this piece of garbage. It doesn't do well at all on a 64 bit machine. Until they get these bugs out, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone.
